‘Upgrade tech to keep robbers at bay’

Bhubaneswar: The commissionerate police have recommended gated housing societies to install cutting-edge equipment to deter burglars in the midst of an increase in thefts in flats around the city.

Over the previous four months, many police station bounds have received reports of burglaries in multiple flats, which has alarmed the security establishment and alarmed the public.

During a Sunday meeting, representatives from many housing societies were urged by the police not to tamper with their security system. A new safety caution would be issued for them, according to the police.

"Societies should install advanced technology, such as CCTV cameras that can sound an alarm during suspicious movements late at night. There are CCTV cameras in many units, but the footage is grainy and blurry. We find it challenging to identify suspects as a result," Police Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda stated.

He said that in order to assist societies in hiring qualified and experienced guards, a list of authorized private security companies will be posted on the municipal police website.

"We're going to implement a mechanism on our website that will let housing associations rank security firms according to the quality of their offerings. This will motivate further organizations to enhance their offerings. The police commissioner told TOI, "We will also identify safe housing societies by conducting an audit of their security systems and felicitating them on a regular basis."

Throughout the conversation, society officers pleaded with the police to order builders to fortify the perimeter's security.
We have been pressing our builder to install more modern CCTV cameras in place of the outdated ones and raise the outside boundary's height. However, the constructor disregards our demands. Such builders will cooperate if the police give a written order, according to Pradipta Hota, secretary of a housing organization in the Nayapalli region.

A housing society in the Patia region employee named K C Prusty stated that police should do a better job of patrolling and responding to emergencies.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Prateek Singh, all police stations have received strong instructions to conduct routine security system audits by visiting the housing societies within their jurisdiction. According to DCP, the police have made significant progress in their investigation of robbery cases and plan to apprehend the burglars shortly.
